The rightful land of Malta
Was attacked by Ottoman Empire, So Malta got some backup And resources from their neighbor, The Spanish Empire sent Some commanders, leaders and soldiers, Which to Malta was useful, Because Malta was first attacked, At the forts along the borders. From May 18 to September 11 During the same year, It was 1565 That forts were besieged. This siege began with a power hungry empire, They were also looking for control A decade earlier, So the Ottoman’s struck the food supply, And made sure that their wells ran dry. If Malta had no help they would’ve easily lost, But because they had help They were able to stand strong, |
After the siege
There were many casualties, 25 to 35 thousand deaths on Ottoman’s side, And 9 thousand left On the Maltese fleet. Malta is known As the tenth smallest country, Though it’s more densely populated Than you might be thinking. The lasting impact As I have said before, Was the Ottoman’s invincibility Was no more, Malta’s alliances are stronger Because of this win, And the Ottoman’s fleet Was stretched quite thin. Fort Elmo and St. Angelo Some of the places they hit, There are 5 more places They didn’t miss, Despite the Ottoman’s invincible reputation They were destroyed Without hesitation. |
