The Dada art movement focuses on absurd and surrealist reflections of modern events. The movement originated in response to the unnecessary horrors of World War One; seeing as 2020 was faced with many unique events, we replicated the style to do the same. We created a collage or "photo montage" to describe our year. Whether relating to the pandemic, personal, or political events.
Students will create a Surrealist style sculpture using found materials, commercially produced items, clay, wire and/or wood. This is inspired by the Artists: Henry Moore, Salvador Dalí’s ‘Lobster Telephone’ (1938), Man Ray Indestructible Object 1923, Pablo Picasso Still Life, 1914, Bicycle Wheel by Marcel Duchamp and Figurative sculptures by Alberto Giacometti.
